Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.

Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to share openly about his profound loss.

"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."

The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without joy".

"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes wrote.

He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator

In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.

Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.

"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.

Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted

In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the local authorities.

A legal directive put a embargo on the investigation to restrict the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the active case.

The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".

Response and Criticism

In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities expressed different responses.

Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive remarks that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.

Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics last week. Talking on his program, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and implied they showed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan ended by proposing that an associate could have intervened when the choice to speak on the tragedy was made.
